Prepare for Your Session

Maternity  |  Newborn Children |  Birthday  |  Family

MATERNITY

  • Schedule your session between 32 to 36 weeks. During that time your belly will have a lovely, full-shaped curve. During those weeks natural angles, curves, and shapes are emphasized the most.

  • Please avoid wearing any bands around the belly area at least 2 hours prior to your session. They leave elastic marks around your belly and are difficult to remove.

  • Please apply any belly lotion at least an hour prior to your session to avoid any glare from lights or sun and staining clothes. If you are showing your knees and bare skin, try to moisturize to limit unflattering dry skin in the photos.

  • To adults in the session, I encourage you to give yourself nice grooming and a manicure prior to your session. To children in the session, I recommend bringing additional grooming items such as a hairbrush and detangling spray that can be used to tame their hairs.

  • I do not provide options for garments and dresses for Maternity Sessions. I do have a few universal maternity gowns and wraps. Women come in many sizes and have personal styles. Please order your outfit well in advance.

  • Solid colors and stretch-fitting fabrics are recommended. Large floral, swirls, plaids, and stripes end up distracting from your beautiful shapes. Form-fitting clothes with a stretch will compliment your figure rather than loose closing. I recommend avoiding the t-shirt length sleeves.

  • You might want to include things like a sonogram, baby shoes, or other things. Bring them in! They add a wonderful personal touch to your maternity session.

  • If you have a special request for setups or props I will try my best to accommodate you. I do not guarantee my ability to replicate your vision, yet I will do my best. Your own props and outfits are always welcomed at the studio.

  • I do ask that phones are silenced during the session.  Please, no phone calls or texting during your session.

  • Lastly, I know everyone can fall under the weather. Please let me know as early as possible, preferably within 24 hours. I would prefer to reschedule you for another day when everyone is feeling better. The same goes for me.

NEWBORN

  • Schedule your session early. I recommend doing newborn photos in the first 2 weeks of your child’s life. Plan around your infant’s feeding schedule and please make sure you are fed prior to your scheduled time. This will allow their little tummies to settle and reduce spitting up and fussiness during the session.

  • Please avoid wearing mittens or socks on your infant’s hands and feet on the day of the session. They leave elastic marks on tiny wrists and ankles that are difficult to remove without glamour touch up the add-on.

  • I typically do no provide outfits for newborn sessions. Throughout your appointment, I’ll use a variety of wraps and fabrics to finalize images. Dipper will be on your newborn throughout the session and covered. If you choose to have nude newborn photos, please let me know in advance. Remember that personable outfits are always encouraged and welcomed.

  • To adults in the session, I encourage you to give yourself nice grooming and a manicure prior to your session. To children in the session, I recommend bringing additional grooming items such as a hairbrush and detangling spray that can be used to tame their hairs.

  • Due to the fact that the safety, health, and comfort of your newborn is my main focus I will be keeping surroundings at comfortable 75 to 80 degrees. Please dress in layers since you might get warm, yet the baby will be very comfortable being undressed. In some instances, I will be using a heating pad or/and a space heater.

  • Please brings extra pacifiers and formula bottles (if you’re not breastfeeding), extra diapers, and anything your infant and party might need. Being overly prepared is encouraged.

  • I have a variety of wraps and backdrops available. It is best to let me know in advance what color pallets you prefer. Neutral colors and/or colors of the nursery complement your new bundle of joy-sweet complexion.

  • Newborns typically have flaky, dry, and breaking-out skin in their first week and your choice of lotion or oil is welcomed.

  • I will only be exciting poses that are safe! Some poses seen on the internet provide a risk to your child's development and health. If you have a pose in mind, please send it to me in advance for evaluations. Some newborns might not have as much flexibility which creates difficulty in achieving the pose safely.

  • I will be involving you throughout the session as it fits. Sometimes I’d require your assistance in spotting. As parents, you know your bundle of joy better than me and I will be working with you to make magic happen.

  • I do ask that phones are silenced during the session.  Please, no phone calls or texting during your session.

  • If you have a special request for set up or props I will try my best to accommodate you. I do not guarantee my ability to replicate your vision, yet I will do my best. Your own props and outfits are always welcomed at the studio. I love collaborating with parents to create a unique and personal session.

  • Lastly, I know everyone can fall under the weather. Please let me know as early as possible, preferably within 24 hours. I would prefer to reschedule you for another day when everyone is feeling better.

Neutral and pastel colors that complement your child’s skin are typically the best selection for the session.
